Ms. Nakyejwe’s work tasks as project assistant includes communicating and network with UMWA’s stakeholders, facilitate in community education workshops, compile reports on organizational activities, participate in meetings and other assignments as directed by the Executive Director.
She joined UMWA in May 2008, after working as a counsellor with two HIV/AIDS treatment centres, Nsambya Home Care and Uganda Cares in Collaboration with TASO.
Ms. Nakyejwe has also volunteered with other development agencies like World Vision, Kasawo area – development program where participated in evaluating the impact to the area.
UMWA has opened up exciting opportunities for her, she says.
– I have built networks, relations and contacts with different people, both within and outside Uganda.
Ms. Nakyejwe plans to pursue masters in development studies with Makerere University Kampala in 2010. It will help her continue the work as an advocate for the rights of women and girls especially at the grassroots.
